For our last day at the park, we hoped to use our one free Magic Hour to get into Disneyland an hour early. Adelaide was especially stressed as she had so many things she wanted to fit in. All her favorite rides, plus a couple we hadn't done yet. We got to the front gate and found out that we had been mistaken. There was no Magic Hour that morning. Well, poor Adelaide, she couldn't hold it in. The tears just start leaking out. We tried to comfort her and promised we'd still fit it all in.
Well, evidently there is no crying at Disneyland. No crying! The gate employee came right through the gate, got down on one knee to be eye-level with Adelaide, and asked if we wanted to be the family that opened the park. So, we didn't know about being the opening family, but it was kind of a big deal. While we waited by the front gate, several other families ran up asking to be picked, but we had already secured the honor.
We were let into the park about fifteen minutes before it opened and allowed to take pictures in front of the iconic flower bed with no other families around. Crazy photo opportunity. Then the kids counted down from ten and yelled, "Let the Magic Begin." The doors were thrown open and they watched everyone rush in. Minnie Mouse was even there for hugs.
Then Adelaide and Matt went back to do more Fast Passes on Space Mountain while Melinda took the other kids to Frontierland and Adventureland. While on the Jungle Cruise, our guide announced, "Man-eating Piranhas! Get down!" Eleanor HIT THE DECK! The guide told her they were "man eating" and wouldn't go after women and kids (not reassuring). Melinda told her they weren't real. Eleanor replied, "I know... I just... I just want to be down here." No chances! Oddly enough, the Haunted Mansion (boys called it the Halloween House), was not scary to her. She even rode her own buggy because, after all, she wasn't really alone. She had a ghost friend!
Reunited with Dad and Adelaide, we decided to head over to Fantasyland to do the tea cups. But, oh no! We went through the castle and in the rush of people, Adelaide got separated from us. She did just what we taught her, and found an employee and told her what happened and Melinda's phone number. But, before they could call us, we found them. As soon as she was missing we started canvasing. She was gone for only about a minute. But, poor Adelaide, tears again, even when she was wrapped in a tighter than tight Mommy hug.
Well, there is no crying at Disneyland. NO CRYING. The park employee hung around us, even when we assured us all was okay. And, when that sad look wouldn't leave Adelaide's face, she asked Adelaide if she'd gone on the Peter Pan ride yet? Well, that was the one ride we'd given up on. The line was always SO long. They took us straight through the exit gate and put us right on the ride. Adelaide's smile slowly came back as we flew over London. And she began to laugh as she heard Jefferson in the car behind yelling, "Hi Tinkerbell!"
After this, we thought about positioning Adelaide in front of a churro stand and poking her until she cried... in the hopes of free dessert. But, we decided not to press our luck and went to the tea cups instead.

When Adelaide gets sad, Eleanor
gets hugging.
The woman in charge of opening the park,
who let us in to lead the countdown. She as awesome.
Family shot!
MINNIE!
Then we set out to go to our favorite rides. The boys and mom did Buzz Lightyear about four times while Matt and the girls did Star Tours and Space Mountain. Then we headed over to do the Storybook Canal Boats. This was one we hadn't done yet, so the kids were excited.
Agrabah! The kids loved it. Jefferson was so
happy when we went by the Frozen castle.
Practicing monkey faces for the circus train.
Waiting for Space Mountain
Ready to see some Hippos!
Taken before the piranhas threatened our welfare.
Ghost buddy!

Eleanor picked the cup - PINK!
We headed out after lunch, the kids were finally showing some fatigue (five days in, not bad!). But, not before getting everyone Tsum Tsums as a souvenir.
Taking some Disney home with us!
