California Adventure was an adventure for all of us. Even Matt and Melinda had never been. We went straight to the new Guardian's of the Galaxy ride.
Shame on Matt and Melinda for not researching the ride ahead of time, to know that it was the former Tower of Terror. The kids were all tall enough, so even the boys happily strapped in. Once the out of control "gantry" lift started dropped, Steven grabbed Mom like she might fly away. When it was finished, they were proud of themselves, they even asked to go again. But, after two times, the boys were done as done can be.
Later, when Adelaide and Eleanor were in line with Mom, using fast passes, a family next to us was talking about the ride. The two teenage boys were scared to go on. Their mom could barely contain her laughter when Adelaide innocently said, "It's okay, my brothers have done it twice and they are just three. You'll be fine." She was trying to be kind, but what a slick burn! Those teenagers had to go on it after that.

Waiting in line, admiring the collector's collection
at the Guardian's ride.
The girls, so proud they did it!
In the Marvel store, trying on hats.
After Guardian's of the Galaxy, we went for some lighter fare in A Bug's Land. The kids have never seen this moving, but they appreciated the rides just the same. It was fun to see it before it gets dismantled for the Marvel area they are building (which they will probably adore too).
Spinning Lady Bugs
Crashing fleas
A Caterpillar Train
Off we go!
From there, we moved on to the Cars land, and Steven was home. It was like he had found a place built just for him... and let's face it, it was. For him and all little boys like him.
Steven is ready to move in and be a permanent citizen.
Radiator Springs!
Cars that did Italian folk dances!
Waiting for Mater's Junkyard Jamboree
which did not disappoint.
No, we didn't all ride in here. Just a quick group
shot before we left.
As much as Steven never wanted to leave a place where everything was shaped like cars, we did drag him onward. Pixar Pier was closed for renovation, but the kids enjoyed Pacific Wharf's sourdough bakery and free chocolate samples at Ghirardelli's.
A record catch!
Melinda loves sourdough like
Steven loves cars.
Then we went over to Hollywood land to check out the animation studios, characters, and exhibits. The kids were master artists (pronounced ar-teests) and followed along, drawing Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas.
What are you drawing Adelaide?
It's coming together.
Looking good boys!
Girls did a great job too!
In the same area as the animator's class, there was a meet and greet for Anna and Elsa. The line was over 20 minutes long. Jefferson desperately wanted to meet them. So, he and mommy hung out in line while the other kids went to talk to Crush the Turtle. After waiting and waiting, somewhat impatiently, we were finally led back.
Jefferson had been talking nonstop right until we crossed into the room. Then he stopped, "froze" if you will (Elsa is that powerful!). His jaw dropped. Between Anna and Mom, we managed to drag him over to Elsa. We even got a picture. Then Mom carried him in to see Kristoff and Olaf - his own legs still not working. When we left the area, he snapped out of his trance and tried to run back in, but alas, his time was up. Cute dude. He was crushed, but only for a moment, because we took the kids straight to the Frozen Live show, and he was overjoyed.
Star Struck!
A so-happy Jefferson
High-fiving Olaf
Another posed picture
Eating Mickey Ice Cream and waiting for the show
to get started.
The kids were getting tired, so we took them over to Grizzly Peak so they could play at their own pace. Climbing, sliding, swinging - but no more waiting in lines. It was the perfect way to wrap up the day.
Ropes for days!
Climbing partners
A cave with no pirate curses!
Double slides for double boys
Tomorrow it's back to Disneyland. The kids are excited to repeat their favorites and get to some of the things we missed. Adelaide's been emboldened by her success with the Guardian's of the Galaxy and wants to try out the roller coaster's Disneyland has to offer too.
