Everything Jensen

When Eleanor was little, or rather littler than she is now, we used to take a lot of pictures of her and Adelaide together. Adelaide loved holding Eleanor, and Eleanor loved to snuggle. So many perfect photo moments. Then Eleanor learned to crawl and climb and cruise... Eleanor's adventurous spirit will not be denied. (Troublemaker. She's an adorable, wonderful little troublemaker.) Adelaide and Eleanor still love being together all the time, but there are fewer snuggles and a lot more chases, tickles and bounce parties. Melinda continues to try take more photos of the two of them in the hopes of having some worthy of framing. But, the girls don't make it easy. It's time for another kids say the darndest things post! Really, at this point, it's more of an "Adelaide says..." post. Eleanor only knows three words - Mama, Dada, and sometimes she busts out a Bu-bye. Adelaide has been saying, "No nuts!" and showing off her allergy bracelet. She's   getting so good at remembering to check packages  that she even asks Mom to check the milk in the dairy case.  Eleanor doesn't say much, but she does DO the darndest things. For example, if you say, "No, Eleanor don't go over there," she will crawl even FASTER to try to get the power cord/trash can/toilet water before you can grab her. And, if you blow kisses to her, she'll make kissy sounds back. She'll also high-five any open palm she can find, repeatedly. She loves to grab noses, dance and wave good bye. One of the best ways to get Eleanor's attention is to call out, "Bye bye!" She'll stop whatever she is doing t...

The results are in - Adelaide does have a peanut allergy and should strictly avoid all nuts. We are both alarmed and relieved. It's good to know why her asthma has been flaring up and the cause behind some of her recent breathing problems. Now we can work toward fixing the situation. But, it is scary that the cause is such a dangerous allergy. Hey there cutie pie! Being the overprotective parents that we are, we immediately vowed to grow and process all our own food, decided to never let her interact with other grubby children, and banned Adelaide from putting anything in her mouth that wasn't first personally inspected by one of her parents... Seriously, we almost did. We'd do anything to protect  our little girlie girl. Okay, we haven't gone quite that far (yet). But, we did kick into red alert mode. We've got benadryl and EpiPens, and kept the pediatrician way over the office's closing time answering all our many questions. The amount of i...

We had an exciting New Year's Eve... ....okay, not really.  Zzzzz.... The little Jensenitas are programmed to rise and shine by 6:00 am every morning. Got lost in a good book? Football went into overtime? Stayed up to herald in 2013?  They make no exceptions. So, we were in bed long before the ball dropped in Central Park. We love holidays, we do! But, we love sleep more. So, our New Year's Eve celebrations were limited. We tried to explain the holiday to Adelaide, who seemed to think 2013 was a store that we were going to and asked if Dad would come too. Then we went out to an early dinner at a family-friendly restaurant (read as "pancake house") and got back home with plenty of time to toast the New Year in camaraderie with everyone in Greenwich Mean Time.  Pancakes for dinner!
