On December 1, our Elf on the Shelf (Holly) returned. Grandma and Grandpa asked Eleanor if Holly lived at the North Pole during the other months. Eleanor looks confused and replied, "No, she's up in Mommy's closest."
So, the kids know the elf isn't "real" and she isn't spying on them. But, they love this game of finding her every morning. It makes getting them out of bed for school easier, because they don't want to be the last one to find the elf.
So, here's a recap of all of Holly's adventures this holiday season. Tonight, she flies back to Mommy's closet for another 11 month rest. Thanks for visiting Holly!

When we came back from Legoland,
she was waiting on the mantle.
A surprise for Sunday Morning breakfast.
Holly left fun erasers, with a challenge for the kids
to give them ALL away. They were sad not to keep
them, but happy to spread cheer. And, when they came
home, Mom had some extras to surprise and reward them with.
Drinking syrup... the kids were concerned
about Holly's health choices.
Is someone in there?
In the book nook, reading Christmas books.
Coins in the shoes on St. Nickolas Day!
"Mom! Holly made a mess!"
How did she fly up there?
Looks like Holly is a Harry Potter fan!
The kids loved eating Hogwarts House cookies.
After finding Holly's snowflakes, the girls learned to
cut them too, and decorated their window upstairs.
A sprinkle angel! Since the kids don't
have snow experience, we had to google this
to help them understand the reference.
Do you wanna build a snowman?
Candy Cane acrobatics. This one actually
took them a few moments to find.
Christmas tree camouflage. But, they
still found her super fast.
Holly hung some mistletoe and left chocolate
kisses for the family. (Thanks Matt for
a trip to the park to pick the mistletoe).
Yum! Chocolate kisses!
A lot of packing tape and she stayed up there all day!
Uh-oh. Snowman down! The kids were
so fascinated by the melted snowman (dried glue).
They stole it right away and played with it the rest of the week.
Holly's counting down the days!
Kid's liked this idea so made their own.
Uh-oh! Letter to Santa. Hope the kids
aren't doing anything to get on the naughty list.
Uh-oh... what a mess!
Boys thought Holly would get a timeout for sure.
What's Holly doing in the fridge?
KINDER EGGS! This might have
been the kids favorite day.
They were SO afraid to open this. Finally,
Eleanor bravely sniffed and announced, "PEPPERMINT!"
Just Fishin'
A scavenger hunt! Adelaide was so excited about these
crackers after reading about them in the Harry Potter books.
Cleaning the fireplace for Santa.
