Memorial Day Weekend

Grandma Gale and Grandpa Jeff (or Bumpa and Mum-mum as the kids called them) came down this weekend to visit the grandkids and meet Steven.

The girls were SO excited to see their grandparents, and Steven was thrilled to have more fun people to smile and wave at.

On Friday, they snuck down for a delicious dim sum lunch with Melinda and Steven before the girls were out of preschool. Then they headed back up to Canyon Lake. Around bedtime, we followed to spend the night and be up early the next day for the Memorial Day parade.

Before heading back to Canyon Lake,
Grandma left presents for the girls!

Coming home from school to stickers
and new shirts is the BEST! Love that grandma.

The kids love the Canyon Lake Memorial Day Parade because the city council members, scout troops, real-estate agents and other participants throw out buckets of candy. It's better than Halloween, because the candy lands right at your feet. They remembered it from last year and were very excited to go again.

On the day of the parade, Steven celebrated
his two week anniversary as a US citizen!

Waiting for the parade to start!

Steven loved having so many people to
walk with, coo at and be loved by.

Alas, all that smiling, flag waving and candy
chasing tuckered the poor little guy out.

Eleanor was one happy camper.
Aunt Eve helped her fill her bag.

What a haul!

Adelaide also had a huge pile! She even
skidded a knee diving after some of that candy.

After the kids gathered enough candy to feed an entire elementary school, we headed back to the house for a quick break. Melinda sorted the candy (and secretly disposed of most of it, sorry girls). Then we went to the Fiesta Days festival where Grandma bought the girls flowered crowns, we watched the cardboard boat races, wandered the stalls, and got balloon animals and color changing cups.
 Eleanor's "Beaaaaaaauuuuutiful crown"

What a fun day! All three kids were exhausted when we headed home. Sunday was more relaxed. After church, the family gathered at our house for dinner, games, kid chasing, chatting and resting.

So much to love about a Sunday afternoon with family.

A full table for dinner, using our color
changing cups from the festival of course!

Happy Birthday Uncle Jed! (Again)

Monday was the last day for our long weekend. We went to Old Town with Grandma and Grandpa and enjoyed bean dip and tacos and Eleanor's favorite restaurant, Barra Barra. The grandparents snuck away while the kids napped.

When Adelaide woke up she curled up next to Mom and sighed, "I wish Grandma and Grandpa never had to leave." The other two children feel the same. We love Bumpa and Mum-mum and can't wait to see them again soon.
