Thankful for an Easy Thanksgiving

All the locals were out and about for Thanksgiving, and we had no visitors. So, it was just the six of us. Cozy, easy. We ordered almost the entire dinner from the Honey Baked Ham Store. That's right, Melinda didn't want to slave all day in the kitchen so the kids could each eat a roll, complain about their vegetables, and then try to negotiate bigger pieces of pie. No regrets! Honey baked ham food was DELICIOUS.

And, since we weren't slaving away in the kitchen, we were able to spend the morning at Legoland, just hanging out and being thankful for a day off.

 Turkey bows! It's a tradition.
 Carousel riding.
 Only minor fender benders.

 Couple o' Turkeys
After Legoland, Melinda spent an hour or so in the kitchen prepping the feast. Jefferson spent an hour or so running into and being shooed out of the kitchen waiting for the feast while the rest of the family played and watched Christmas DVDs.

 Behold! The feast!
 Adelaide read a gratitude poem.
Eleanor tried everything!
The day after Thanksgiving, we thought we'd use our time well and go down to the Museum of Art in Balboa Park.
How do you feel about spending your day off at an art museum kids?
 Uuuughhhh....
(Except Adelaide, we love you Adelaide!)
The day got better for the three youngest Jensens when we found the interactive Frida Kahlo exhibit. Finally! No more no touching signs!

The arm bone's connected to the... hip bone?
Future doctors...probably...

Steven creating ART!
And, because the kids suffered through the art museum with us (except Adelaide who enjoyed herself, we see you being amazing Adelaide!), we took everyone out to the Sushi Diner. Nothing makes these kids happier than chop sticks and California rolls.

This side of the table is happy about sushi!
Finally, home again. Jefferson decided he was done for a while and put himself down for a nap. Steven, our resistance fighter, protested his nap until Jefferson demanded he be kicked out so he could have some quiet for sleeping. Fair enough.

While Jefferson slept, we transformed our home fall-themed to holly jolly. Poor Jefferson was SO confused when he finished his nap. It's Christmas now? The weather outside never changes, so we need the decorations to help us know the seasons are changing.

Putting up the tree.

 Which is brighter, Eleanor's sweater
or the Christmas lights?
The rest of the weekend was laid back and low key. Matt and Adelaide spent many hours together building a Lego Christmas Village with a working train. .

How do you feel about that train Steven?
