Keeping It Real...

It was bound to happen... two parents, three kids... we knew we were going to lose one of them at some point. What we didn't expect was to misplace two at once.

We were doing our thing at the Legoland water park, floating down the lazy river and catching some rays. When it was time to get out, Matt ran out of the water to go grab the stroller from the stroller parking area. Melinda turned to get Steven out of his inner tube.

 Chillin' in the inner tube

Of course, Melinda saw the girls follow their Dad and thought that was fine. Matt thought the girls were staying next to Mom. Oh no!

A few moments later Melinda was wringing her hands and giving a description of the girls to a lifeguard with a walkie talkie while Matt was running the loop of the park calling their names. (Steven was politely sitting in his stroller waving at passerby. Someone had to keep a cool head.)

Poor girls. As far as we can tell, neither could keep up with Dad's long legs. Adelaide turned right instead of left and ended up just on the other side of the sitting area next to the lazy river.

There, she tells us, "another little girl's mommy" helped her find a lifeguard who was just getting the call on his walkie talkie about two lost little girls. It was a short, tearful walk back to a big hug from Mom.

Eleanor's adventure was, well, a little more adventurous. She followed Matt left, but instead of stopping at the stroller parking, just kept going, and going and going.

Poor little thing ran half way across the park with bare feet on hot pavement. When Matt found her, she was fleeing from a security ranger (stranger!) and absolutely panicked.  Daddy swooped in the for the rescue.

Poor Eleanor was never going to let go of her sister
or smile EVER again...

... that is, until Mom and Dad took her to the
carousel and Heartlake City and bought her a
rainbow lollipop.

All in all, the girls were lost for less than five minutes, but it probably look a week off their Mom's life. Seriously.

And, Steven!
