Almost every morning, Matt gets up before the sun to go running while the rest of us are snoozing. Since getting back into running earlier this year, he's run hundreds of miles around the streets of Sorrento Valley, all while still getting home in time to make the kids' morning oatmeal.
What a guy! Right?
So, when Matt was having trouble finding a running buddy to do a few races with him this summer, the family jumped right in and signed up to do the Color Me Rad 5K with him.

We'll run a race with you Dad!
And by run with you... we mean, sit in this
stroller and cheer for you while you push us around.
The girls were so excited to go on their first "race" with Dad. Eleanor probably ran half a mile and Adelaide almost a mile. Fortunately, we were given a double jogging stroller a few months ago and were able to stack the kiddos inside when they got tired.
Though, the girls always seemed to find their energy when we ran through one of the many "color" stations along the route.
Powdered!
Gooped!
The end was tough, Adelaide didn't think she was going to make it... really... no porta potties along the entire route. Poor kid. But, everyone made it and it was awesome! The kids had such a kick out of being rainbow colored. Eleanor was especially excited about getting doused with her favorite color. Can you guess what that is?

Clean
Oh-so-Messy!
Steven didn't really get the point of all this getting messy shenangigans. When Matt took him out after the race and put him on his shoulders, Steven held his arms high up in the air so as not to touch Dad's messy head. He did love bouncing to the beat of the music and dancing at the finish line party.
The girls are already looking forward to their next race with Dad... you know, as long as he brings that comfy stroller.
Thumbs up little racers
Muah!
