Super Duper Saturday

We are exhausted. Truly. It will probably take all week for us to recover from today's non-stop fun.

This morning was our neighborhood's annual fall festival. Have we ever mentioned on the blog that Melinda is the acting president of the HOA? Well, she is. So, in addition to late night meetings about the options for shed foundations and reviewing complaints about garden gnomes - she's pretty involved in things like annual fall festivals.

So, we spent the early hours of the morning doing final prep on candy guessing games and donuts on strings. Then, we kicked off the party.

Okay, so it probably seemed pretty darn fishy that the daughter of the HOA President and person in charge of all the games won both the costume contest AND the guess the candy game. But, we weren't costume judges and it's hard to argue with math - Adelaide guessed the closest.

This is the point we wanted to take the kids home for a nap. But, someone was showing our house. So, we went straight from the fall festival clean up to another fall fair down the road (sponsored by a local shopping district).

Finally, once the house was clear, we ran home to prepare for the final event of the day! Last week, we were supposed to have a farewell party with close friends. But, it was rained out. So, we moved it to this week.

The girls THOUGHT they were done.

We spent a hurried half hour loading up the car, ordering pizza and convincing the girls it wasn't time to collapse quite yet. Then, off to the park down the road to hang with some of our favorite people.

Last week we were rained out. Today, there was no rain in the forecast. But, this party was destined to get wet. The rain came down! Fortunately, it didn't last long and never came down very hard. We moved the party under one of the oak trees and were able to stay mostly dry until the cloud passed.

The highlight of the party was probably the piñata.  

Mr. Seahorse was a pretty sturdy piñata. 

It took the big kids quite a few whacks to bring him down.
