The girls generally love it when Mom has to go out on a week night. Because, let's face it, Dad is way more fun. So, there were some courtesy tears when Mom left for back-to-school night yesterday, but not many, because Matt was already pulling out Disney movies.
Their favorite thing to do when it's just Dad in the house is have a "Princess Party." Of course, Matt is the king (Adelaide told us so). Last night they both picked out some of their nicest church dresses, put on shiny plastic tiaras and watched the happy, musical portions of Beauty and the Beast while eating strawberries and pouring pretend tea.
Little girl heaven!
But, that's when disaster struck.

Okay, we're not actually sure what happened. All we know is that out of the blue, Eleanor started whimpering and cradeling her arm. Eleanor is our rough and tumble little girl. She loves to climb, slide, jump and crash. She's tough stuff.
So, Matt was pretty concerned. When Melinda arrived home, she took over the bedtime duties with Adelaide while Matt rushed his little princess to the ER like a regular knight in shining armor.
We're pretty sure we know nursemaid's elbow when we see it. But, we couldn't pop it back in. And, neither could the doctors, even after about five hours at the ER. She was x-rayed to confirm there were no breaks. Finally, they sent her home with a limp arm and a fistsful of Disney Princess stickers.
After a few hours of sleep, Melinda took her into her pediatrician who was, FINALLY, able to pop the elbow back in place. Whew. Poor kid. Though, she has really enjoyed the stickers. And, her pacifiers all dissapeared months ago, so she was pretty happy that we let her have one to help her fall asleep in the noisy hospital.
Better yet, this morning she traded the pacifier back to Mom for MORE stickers. So, silver lining in everything we suppose.

So sad! Face-timing with
Mommy in the waiting room.

"All is well that ends well" and if it is not well it must not be the end yet. Hugs to ALL my princesses, and the King too. Mutti/Oma
