We're not going to lie. It's been a rough first week home with our new little man. He still grieving for his nannies and friends in China, scared, confused and rejecting his new situation. Sleep is short and night terrors are frequent. Lots of screaming, crying and lashing out. He's in turmoil, we're exhausted.
And the kids are exhausted, especially Adelaide who is back in school already. But, we survived the first week, and a family day of celebration was in order! The kids knew just want they wanted to do, take Jefferson to their favorite Saturday activity - Legoland.
It's October, and that means it's Brick-or-Treat time at Legoland... also known as really long line time. So, for Jefferson's first theme park adventure, we didn't do many rides. But, that was probably for the best, as his eyes nearly popped out of his head when the carousel horse started to move. Stairs and slides were excited for this guy just a couple weeks ago, so contraptions that spin, jolt and bounce - just whoa!
We did spend a good amount of time in Sealife aquarium, where Jefferson's eyes continued to pop out of his head - lots of pointing and yelling in Mandarin. We asked Adelaide what he was saying, and it was mostly, "Come here. This! This! This!" So much to discover! Go Jefferson.
Eleanor ain't afraid of
skeletons, vampires or mummies...
but witches, yikes! Hold me Mommy!
Steven teaching his new brother how it's done.
Touching the star fish made Steven so happy.
Jefferson also enjoyed it, but wouldn't
picture pose.
The classic giant Lego pumpkin picture.
But, Steven tell us how you really
feel about taking a family photo
in from of a scary Lego skeleton clown.
A more successful group shot!
After dark, we joined in on some of the brick-or-treating. Lines were long and winding and the kids were tired - but you've got to get that commemorative brick, right?
Melinda did manage to fancy talk her way around one of the trick-or-treating lines to get the free juice packs. With sugar in their systems, the kids were ready to move on to the dance parties, where Steven dominated the floor with his wild dance moves. Jefferson was right behind him doing what we like to call the "Jefferson Shuffle." He balls up his fists and shakes his arms in front of him like he's playing the maracas while wiggling his shoulders. Don't worry, he makes that look cool.
A new commemorative brick for our collection.
The kids came home tired, but happy. And, hey, Jefferson mostly slept through the night. Progress and success!
