Summer Time Fun

It's officially summer and the weather is... well, the same as it always is in San Diego. Perfect! So, we've been trying to get out and enjoy it.

We took the kids to the San Diego County Fair this year. Melinda went once while Matt was on a trip, with the help of Grandpa Thomas and Uncle David. And, we went again when Matt returned.

Eleanor couldn't get enough of the animals, but poor Adelaide cried in distress when we went into the goat barn, "Mommy, I don't want to smell them anymore!" Melinda completely emphathized, but they toughed it out long enough to see a sheep get sheered.

Sister Love!

Be the bonsai!

Eleanor loved the animal barns.

Adelaide and Grandpa, hay bale buds.

With the backyard finished and the weather fine, we've been spending a lot of time outside. The kids had swimming lessons over the winter, so we're also having a lot of fun in the community pool. Eleanor, in particular, loves jumping into the water and making huge splashes. She's our fish in training. Adelaide is more of a hot tub gal (Of course, Melinda is always happy to be her hot tub chaperone).

Total backyard chaos. We can fit 10 kids back there,
with room to spare, who knew?

"I'm a BLAZER SHARK!"

And, we wrapped up the month by braving a Padres game with the whole family. Not only was there a BYU Marriott Center Alumni Tailgate party beforehand, it was also free towel night. We arrived early and ate hot dogs, played on the playground in the stadium, looked at the statues and danced to the bands around Pet Co. Park. By the time the game started, the kids were exhausted. We made it three innings, which we thought was super impressive.

Steven was pretty sure all
the cheering was for him.

Other milestones this month - Steven learned to walk, climb the stairs and remove the electrical socket protectors all in the same weekend. Wow! Way to keep us on our toes. We are so proud of him. He is completely caught up on his motor skill development. That's a huge accomplishment. We love him like crazy. It's hard to believe he's only been home for two months, because he is such a natural and perfect fit for our family.
