Father's Day Weekend

For Father's Day weekend, Matt really just wanted to get away a bit. A full blown vacation was out of reach for a short weekend. But, we enjoyed a day up in Canyon Lake at Melinda's parents house, since they were kind enough to leave us a key.

It was a good thing we went up, since there was a leak in the main floor bathroom. Yikes! We got that under control and had a great Saturday boating, golf cart riding, going to the playground, antiquing and even feeding ducks.

Matt's sister Kristin and her husband, James, drove down from LA to join us. What a great day.

This room is no longer a place of "business."

On the Lake

Mexican food in Temecula at "The Bank"
a restaurant built in an old 1800s rancher bank.

Sharing a Blue Frostie while the
grown ups had root beers from
The Old Town Root Beer Shop.
(Actually, Matt broke trend and tried
the "National Drink of Austria"
Almdudler. For the record,
it tastes a bit like ginger ale).

It was a great, quick break. For Father's Day, we were back home for a waffle breakfast, presents and homemade cards, church, tickle fights and a yummy dinner with Grandpa Phil and Grandma Mikki as our guests.

Waffles and strawberries for a
special Father's Day breakfast.

Father's Day was a little tough this year, because 15 years ago today, Matt's father Steve passed away. Steve's love, care, wisdom and example are a huge part of what makes Matt the incredible man he is today. We were so proud to remember Steve today and know that he watching over our little family.

Proud Dad and Newborn Matt

The perfect '90s family. Take a moment to admire
the girls' jumpers and Matt's hair.
We miss you Dad.
