Back to the Old Grind

Melinda finished up working with Time Life in mid-March and, after interviewing around, decided to accept a position in the product development department of Infantino, a really awesome company that makes baby toys, carriers, food systems and more.

The new position didn't start until today, which means Melinda got an entire month off of work. Well, not completely. The first couple weeks of that month were spent buzzing back and forth from the doctor's ensuring Adelaide was on the mend. But, after that, she was able to enjoy some rare time off.

The kids stayed in morning pre-school while Melinda was between jobs, so she had mornings free. That's right, free time. FREE TIME. That hasn't happened, in well... let's see, how old is Adelaide... almost four years.

The apartment was scrubbed until it shined, many books were read, museums visited, lunch dates made and, heck, she even went to the gym (once).

Rou-Jia was an excellent UCSD tour guide - Go Tritans!

The last week of her time off was spring break at the kid's school. Melinda and the kids packed in some fun adventures that week and during all the half days earlier in the month. It was a blast.

Melinda loved her time at home, but is looking forward to being a contributing member of society again. Besides, those MBA bills and adoption costs don't pay themselves. She just wishes she could contribute a few less hours a week. But, alas, she only had full time offers. On the plus side, she now has her own office and the walls are purple. If you are working long hours, the walls might as well be a fun color.
