Last week Melinda won four tickets to Great Country Farm. The "farm" is located in Bluemont, VA, which is about an hour east of DC. We were excited to head out there as the fall foliage is at its peak and it was the perfect weekend for a drive into the countryside.
Great Country Farm was hosting their annual Pumpkin Chukin' festival. So, we brought our jack o' lanterns up to meet glorified ends.
But, by far our families favorite part of the farm was the pumpkin zip line. The pumpkins were hoisted high before being sent zipping into a large wooden pole. Since the farm is closed for the season after this weekend, the kitchen gave them all sorts of almost expired condiments to put in the pumpkins, adding amazing powdered sugar puffs and ketchup splatters to the explosions.
Behold - the Pumpkin Zip Line!
Both kids laughed such huge belly laughs every time a pumpkin exploded on the post. It was AWESOME. We're thinking of building our own if we ever get a backyard big enough.
Breathtaking. We miss this already,
and we haven't even left Virginia yet.

About to wipe the smiles off these
jack-o-lanterns' faces.
Smash that Squash!
Seeing our pumpkins hurled from the top of a large crane and splatted all over the ground was worth the drive alone. But, the farm had a lot of other cute activities that made for a fun morning.
Giant Fake Cows
Miniature Real Cows
60 ft. Tunnel Slides
Oops… should have checked the bottom of
that slide for water puddles. Dried it off
for everyone else. Sorry Laidy-Bug.
Animal Snouts
Marshmallow Roastin' Pit
Giant Bounce Pillow
Castle Play Structure
Breathtaking Views of the Autumn Colors
Iron Maiden for Pumpkins

That looks like an awesome place! I'm totally jealous. And I totally want a pumpkin zip line!
ReplyDeleteLooks like I was just a bit early for fall foliage on east coast last month. But, Pacific Northwest foliage is making up for it nicely. Fun activity - what a way to tug at your heart as you leave Virginia. But, I promise that San Diego awaits with compensatory opportunities! Ever onward! Mutti/Oma
