Eleanor at 9 Months + Santa

Eleanor had her 9 month check up this week. It took a few months, but she's finally caught up to Adelaide's "stats" when it comes to height and weight. She was average across the board at birth, so she had some catching up to do. We're pretty impressed.

Check me out! I'm hot stuff.

Baby at work!

Eleanor is a little ray of sunshine in our lives. She's the happiest, smiliest baby we've ever met. What a joy to have her in our family. She's learned to say "Momma" and "Dadda," and usually calls for us when she wants to be held. She'll army crawl as fast as she can and lay down across our feet if we don't get her fast enough. And, when Mom picks her up Eleanor covers her face with wet, sticky kisses.

Of course, she and Adelaide are best friends (ask anyone, or rather, ask Adelaide - she'll tell you). Adelaide adores her sister and will frequently correct us when we refer to Eleanor as "my baby" or "my little one." Adelaide will loudly challenge, "No, that's my Eleanor," or "She's MY baby girl." She's pretty firm on this point and has not been willing to share. Though, she is happy to let Mom and Dad do all the diaper changing. Adelaide loves to cover her sister in kisses and is always asking to hold her. She watches over her constantly and will yell for us if she thinks, "Eleanor is being dangerous!" This usually means Eleanor is trying to eat the doorstop. Eleanor crawls after Adelaide and will grab her hand or just try to crawl into her lap. When Adelaide is eating, Eleanor will crawl under the dining room table to sit under her chair. Adelaide will often abandon her food half-eaten to go play with her sister. They spend a lot of time under the table.

Bath time buddies (that's right, naked baby picture).

We don't pose them, they just hang out like this.

Rocking the Santa PJs

Adelaide was very careful not to let Eleanor
eat any of the leaves while they played.

Bubbles provided by Dad.

Whatever Adelaide is doing, Eleanor
wants to do too, and visa versa.

Tea for two, and two for tea.

On a completely separate note, December is here! So, we taught Adelaide what all the numbers on her advent calendar mean. And, she thought it was just a picture of Santa Claus.

Chocolate? There's CHOCOLATE?

Melinda also took the kids to see Santa today. He made a guest appearance at the new shopping center down the road. Eleanor was not impressed by the big guy in the red suit, and was very relieved to go back to Mom. Adelaide was shy, but excited.

Adelaide brought our mini-Santa and tried to
give it to Santa. She said it was his baby... though
we're interpreting that as his "baby doll."

They also provided free hot cocoa and cookies. Thanks Santa!

And a totally random picture... the kids climbed into bed with us this morning and fell back asleep on top of Melinda. Oh how they love to sprawl across and squish their mom. So, Matt got up and made us heart-shaped pancakes. What a guy! Then he banished himself to the basement for an HR quiz and marketing write-up. April can't come soon enough.

Dad is a master chef!
