The day after Christmas we woke up to a light dusting of snow on our lawn with more flakes falling from the sky. Adelaide was so excited... at last, snow! Just like in her videos and books. She couldn't wait to put on her snow boots and get outside.
Unfortunately, her enthusiasm was short lived. The snow quickly turned to rain as the morning progressed, which turned our winter wonderland into a slush puddle. In fact, the snow really only lasted long enough for us to snap a few cute pictures. Instead of spending their day building snowmen and making snow angels, Adelaide and Eleanor were dragged to after-Christmas sales so that Dad could buy new slacks for work. Rotten luck.

Eleanor was pretty ambivalent about the snow,
but she liked being encased in bunting several inches thick.
Taking in something brand new.
What are we doing? What is this white stuff?
Can I have some apple sauce?
She just realized that snow is cold.
Since all the snow melted yesterday before we could really play in it, Melinda decided to dedicate today's activities to making a snow day at home. Of course, all our snow is melted and gone. Fortunately for our snow day, we didn't need Mother Nature. Melinda has her own recipe for snow.
Lots of flour and a little baby oil...
...mix it all together!
Snow! And, it's not even cold.
One of many miniature snowmen made today.
Eleanor even joined in the fun,
those aren't fruit puffs...
they are snow flakes!
The fake snow was a nice diversion, since both girls had to go to the doctor's again today. Eleanor finally got a clean bill of health! But, poor Adelaide appears to have a peanut allergy. She had to get her blood drawn for some lab tests to confirm the allergy and help us identify her level of sensitivity. She was exceptionally brave while they put the IV in her arm and filled the vial up. She didn't even cry, at least until she got home. Then she cuddled up with Mom in a rocking chair and let it all out. Poor little girl. She didn't even want M&Ms. A good nap fixed things right up though.
We ended the evening on a fun note. To finish off our snow day, we made a snowman pizza and watched the classic Christmas special, Frosty the Snowman.
