The sand may be a little rocky and the water isn't all that clear - but you can't beat the Chesapeake Bay for proximity when you are looking for a little beach-action close to DC. Sandy Point Park in Annapolis, MD is only about an hour from us, and it's a fun, little family-friendly park.
Thanks to our little early-bird, we we pulled into the parking lot when there were still rows of empty spaces. Adelaide only took a moment to size up the shore line before plunging straight in - dragging her Dad behind her.
So they splashed in the waves
on the shoreline instead.

We think she was trying to make it
all the way out to the Bay Bridge.

The sand at Sandy Point is a bit rough, but that's because it's full of interesting bits of rocks and broken shells. When she needed a break from the water, Adelaide walked up and down the beach exploring (and trying to put rocks in her mouth).
Melinda is sporting the wind-swept look.
Around lunch-time, the crowd started to catch up with us, and Adelaide was ready for a nap. So, we bid adieu to the beach and headed back to Virginia. We'll definitely be back though!
Until next time!
Did you get stung by any jellyfish? That happened to me last time at Sandy Point...probably why we haven't returned!
ReplyDeleteLooks fun! I've always been curious about close-by beaches. Thanks for the suggestion.
