The Best Medicine

Adelaide has a touch of bronchitis, and all week we’ve been trying to make her feel better. Humidifiers, steamy showers, saline drops, lots of hugs, trips to the doctor, antibiotics and duck-faced inhalers…

When is the last time your doctor
prescribed you a duck face?

While the inhaler does make her giggle whenever we pull it out, she still wasn’t quite her curious, high-energy self. That is, until our good friend Gloria stopped by for dinner last night.

Gloria is a nanny and one of the families she works for cleaned out their toy room this week. Santa could not have fit as many toys in his sled as Gloria did in her SUV. The explosion of colored plastic and blinking lights on our living room floor was an instant panacea. Adelaide threw herself into the pile with the energy and smiles we hadn’t seen in almost a week. She very quickly identified a maraca as her favorite toy, and then hit all the other toys with it to make them feel welcome.

Wonderful Chaos

So, with the help of her new toys (and maybe the medicine, a little bit), Adelaide seems to be on the mend. A big thanks to Gloria for spoiling Adelaide, and us, rotten. Where would we be without great friends?
