Memorial day weekend was a busy one! We kept on the move in our best attempts to wear the kids out. The jury is still out on who wore who out... kids or parents.
First, we tried our Bertie Botts Every Flavor beans. Some of us thought they were pretty gross and gave up on eating them (Adelaide and Steven). Others thought they were hilarious and tried all the flavors, and were even willing to eat the gross ones again and again for giggles (Eleanor and Jefferson).
We also went to the beach with the grandparents, Uncle Dave, Uncle Roak and Aunt Tehri. Aunt Tehri taught Adelaide how to stack rocks. They made some amazing art while we ate donuts and watched the waves roll in.
We ended the weekend with a BBQ at Granny and Papa's house. That was probably Jefferson's favorite part of the weekend. All the watermelon he would eat! Yay!

We also took the kids out on a hike in the canyon behind our neighborhood. Wandering under the canopy of the manzanita and other low desert trees helped us cool down on a warm afternoon.

Monday morning, we had a bit of an unexpected detour to our planned activities. Steven woke up and told us he couldn't feel his leg, or that it was tingly. He refused to walk on it, and when we tried to get him to stand on it, he wouldn't. So, we called the nurses line and they told us to go straight to the ER because he might be having a stroke. We thought that unlikely, but took him to the ER. Planter fasciitis from so much walking. Sheesh.
Steven set up a tea party and
invited Adelaide. She put down her book
and joined him straight away - cause she's an awesome sister.
In the ER with Dad.
And a popsicle for being a good sport.
After Steven got the all clear, we went to the pool with Aunt Tehri and Uncle Roak. The kids waged an epic water gun battle with their Aunt and Uncle, under Greta's supervision.
Greta make sure everyone plays fair.
Go get them Eleanor!
