6 on the 4th

How on earth did our baby grow this big. Six years old? Really? Are we going to feel like this every birthday? Slow down baby girl!

Adelaide has only been planning this moment since her last birthday ended. She was so excited for the birthday cake, the presents, the fireworks, all of it!

Six!!!

For a few months, Adelaide has been asking for a stuffed "Boo Dog." Eleanor made a deal with Mom that if she did an entire workbook of tracing, she could earn enough money to buy it. It took Eleanor three weeks of tracing, but she earned the money with a few days to spare. She was so excited to give Adelaide her present. And, it was definitely the favorite.

We only opened one quick present, because Eleanor was so excited to give Adelaide her gift, before going to our "fancy pancake breakfast." By special request of the birthday girl, she wanted her party at a "fancy" pancake breakfast.

The whole gang showed up for crepes and flap jacks.
Delicious food and great company! The perfect morning.

Granny and Papa gave Adelaide a Barnes & Noble
gift card, so after breakfast we headed over
and she had so much fun picking out some summer reading.
The store even gave her a free birthday cookie!

So MANY presents. Legos, books, a sewing kit,
Robot Turtles the board game!
(Adelaide's current career goal is
to become a computer programmer)

After a big morning of pancakes, book shopping and presents, the little two rested. When they woke up, it was time for cupcakes before setting out for some firework fun.

Happy Birthday to You!

Red, white and blue centers!

When presented with all her options, Adelaide wanted to see fireworks at Legoland. Thank goodness for our passes, we get a lot of use out of them!

Is it still traditional American 4th of July BBQ
if we bought it from a restaurant with a lego

Eleanor was so proud of her creation,
she put it on the display shelf for all to see!

Cheeeeeese!

While our evening enjoying the park was fun, we were ready for the main event. We positioned ourselves perfectly on the lawn at the front of the park to see the show, and waited... and waited... and waited... We never did find out what the problem was, but the show started 40 minutes late. Which, with a group of squirming, tired kids feels about ten times that long.

We gave up around the 35 minute mark and started to walk to the car. We were almost there when the fireworks started. Since they were being shot off from the parking lot, they were right overhead. Adelaide kept repeating that it was "the best birthday ever" because they were so big and close. Steven was running in circles and yelling, "Wow!" Even the grumpy, tired parents were impressed.

Optimistically waiting for the show...

Our view from the parking lot - BOOM!

Happy Birthday Adelaide! You are a bright, beautiful, smart and loving little girl. A big sister that always has time for her siblings and is always ready to help around the house. We are so lucky to have you in our family.
