Happy Halloween!
Last August, Adelaide asked Mommy to make her a mermaid costume for Halloween. Eleanor decided she wanted to match. We went straight to the fabric store to pick out the fabric and the girls picked the colors they wanted. And, even though Melinda started sewing in August, she just barely finished them in time. BUT, they did get done! Whew!
Steven's costume was easier. A little fabric glue and some felt and voila - the cutest baby shark you ever did meet!

The girls also made seashell necklaces
and we glued pretend pearls to hair clips to complete
their mermaid look.
This baby shark is ready to
take a bite out of your heart.
We had a fun day filled with pumpkin carving and trick-or-treating. The girls even gutted their own pumpkins this year. Melinda roasted the seeds and made dinner in a pumpkin to help get some healthy snacks in everyone before the candyfest began.
Making them work for their jack o' lanterns!
Not only did Matt carve his own pumpkin,
he carved the two kid pumpkins as well.
He's a master gourd artist.
Three pumpkins were Lego Movie Characters...
but Eleanor broke theme and asked for Jake
from Disney's Never Land Pirates.
Her happy little pirate pumpkin took 1st place at the
church pumpkin carving contest and she won
a gift card to Chick Fil A. Go Eleanor!
Trick-or-treating in our neighborhood is slow. So, we set up our awesome inflatable ghost (thanks Grandma Gale!), left out a bowl of candy, and headed over to the church trunk-or-treat. Steven was a little confused at first. But, he caught on quickly and soon became a shark on a mission. He wasn't sure what people were putting in his bucket, but whatever it was, he liked getting it. Even after his pumpkin was too heavy to lift... he dragged it around and around and wouldn't let anyone help him with it.
Neighborhood kids were lining up to take
a picture with our friendly ghost when we left.
Ready to fill those buckets!
A boy on a mission.
And that was Halloween! Just because they are cute, here's a couple more pictures of Adelaide from her school Storybook Parade. She wore the Red Riding Hood cape Grandma Barbara made for Aunt Jessica and Aunt Kristin when they were little girls. She was pretty darling.
Looking good Red!
Three Disney princesses, a karate master
and Little Red Riding Hood walked onto
