Happy Birthday Eleanor!

Today, Eleanor is three! We can hardly believe it. Our sweet, creative, stubborn, wonderful, loving, headstrong, determined little girl is growing up WAY too fast.

Yesterday, we visited Legoland where she was FINALLY old enough to do the driving school ride. While Adelaide carefully maneuvered around the course with extreme caution and care, Eleanor slammed on the gas and crashed into the wall, and into another wall, and into a curb, and into a parked car...crash, crash, bam, boom, giggle, crash. And, that pretty much explains the difference between their two little personalities in a nutshell.

It's my party, I can crash if I want to,
crash if I want to...

After a morning of rides, the lines started to get long. So, the kids napped while we hiked down to the Chinese New Year's Festival in San Diego. The girls made masks and paper lanterns, watched a Kung-Fu display and got free toothbrushes. Couldn't ask for a better afternoon, right?

They wore them the whole way home...

Today was Eleanor's actual birthday. When we asked what she wanted, she only had two requests - rainbow cupcakes and playing with Nova (Uncle Jed and Aunt Eve's dog). We felt like the worst kind of in-laws when we called up Jed and Eve and "invited" ourselves over for her birthday. But, they are so awesome. Jed volunteered to make dinner and Eve put up streamers and balloons, to Eleanor's great delight.

It's the BIRTHDAY girl!

Adelaide made her a special card: "Elinor,
Yoo r too cyuti. Happy Birthday. Luv, Abelaibe."

Time for presents! She's so spoiled.
All her grandparents, aunts and uncles sent a little
package or made a special phone call.

We didn't take picture of the streamers... which
Eleanor LOVED. But, here are the balloons.

Feeding the geese and coots - where
were the ducks?

Nova! A birthday play pal.

Jed made homemade spaghetti sauce. Delish.

Don't forget the rainbow cupcakes!

At the end of the evening, Jed and Eve gave
Eleanor her own stuffed corgi. Eleanor was SO happy, she even
forgot to say goodbye to the REAL corgi she had spent all
afternoon playing with... Luna is now a favorite toy.

Eleanor and Luna (and Adelaide) spend a lot of
time hiding out in their new play house
(Thanks Aunt Kristin and Uncle James).

It was such a fun weekend to celebrate Eleanor. She's a joy in our life. A jokester and prankster who loves adventures, wants to always go fast (unless it's bath time...) and dreams of being a pilot when she grows up... or a "pirate" as she'd pronounce it. We can't wait to see what this year brings.
