Eleanor's on a Hot Streak

This Saturday we went to the Mira Mesa Street Fair.

We know, we know... new house, fixer upper, leaking sinks. We swear, those projects are getting done! Slowly... and in the evenings after the kids go down. We'll post more about some of the improvements soon. Currently, we are tearing out the fireplace.

ANYWAY, street fair. We were wandering about, checking out local businesses and letting the kids spin the prize wheels and add to our abundant collection of branded water bottles and chip clips. At the Nickel City booth the family won free admission plus seven dollars worth of nickels, in addition to a large inflatable hammer and inflatable spider man dolls.

So, on Monday we decided to take the kids. Nickel City is awesome. All the old games, like Pac-man, are free. And, our $7.00 bag of nickels kept the kids busy for over two hours doing hammer-whacking, stomping, driving, hoop shooting and skee balling games.

To help burn our bag of nickels a bit faster, so we could get home for bed time, we tried out some of those "spin to win" jackpot machines.

On Eleanor's first try - JACKPOT.

What's this?

All for me?

She didn't even know what
the tickets were for...

But having lots of them was clearly awesome.

Lucky little two year old! She was so cute laughing and wrapping herself in tickets. She had no idea what they were for - but man, wasn't it cool that the machine was spitting them out like that.

At the end of the night, we took Eleanor and her winnings to the counter. She quickly decided on a bouncy ball. The attendant tried to offer her other prizes, but she was already gone... chasing her new bouncy ball. She couldn't have been happier.

Fortunately, big sister is keeping up with her math lessons and was able to help spend the rest of the winnings on stamps, glow in the dark stars, parachuting aliens, candy and plastic rings.

But, the real lucky ones on this trip were Mom and Dad. Eleanor hasn't thrown a fit about going to bed ever since we put those glow in the dark stars on her ceiling. In fact, she eagerly jumps in ready to sing Twinkle Twinkle and snuggle up.

Everyone's a winner!
