Girls Gotta Grow

Life with small children is hilarious. Adelaide is constantly keeping us in stitches.

She is starting to sound out letters and can get through some simple words. Adelaide's also really starting to get into fashion, with an opinion all her own. She wears her princess crown almost everywhere, thinks her red and white starred skirt goes with everything and accessorizes with lots of purple.

Adelaide loves to help around the
house and when we're out doing errands.

This is her purple "princess" dress.

 Blueberry milkshake face!

Hmmmm... reflecting on the deeper
meaning of "Down by the Bay."

Eleanor is our determined and tenacious girl. She doesn't know the meaning of the word, "no." Literally, we think she thinks "no" means, "do it again," or, "this time bang it harder."

Eleanor is a woman of many pacifiers and few words. But, she makes her presence known with lots of hugs, kisses, cuddles and the occasional large tantrum. We recently hid all the pacifiers. The first 24 hours were a bit rough, but she forgave us and is starting to increase her vocabulary now that her mouth is unobstructed.

She climbs up everything, doesn't want help with anything and can't understand why we're always making her wear clothes.

Eleanor is at the stage where she imitates
everything she sees... to the best she can understand it.
(Melinda wishes she'd stop throwing away
plates just because we did it with some
paper ones once.) Here she is
trying to call someone on a computer mouse.

How do I get this fork thing to work?

Corn is easier - she can clean a cob like nobody's business.

Sick baby takes her own temperature.

And, onto the quotes! We love reading through these, they always make us chuckle.

Adelaide: Let's make chocolate chip and spinach gingerbread cookies.
Mommy told Adelaide that you can throw spinach in the juicer and not taste it, she is applying the principle globally.

Adelaide: Eleanor is being dangerous.
Eleanor: Hahahaha!
Melinda: Oh, you laugh in the face of danger?
Eleanor: Yeah!

Adelaide: In this world....we chassé!
We think this is Adelaide's motto. She used to bust it out a lot, and yes, then she chasséd.

Adelaide: Can I not go to bed? I did that already today.

Matt: Did you know when I lived in Germany, I used to eat grilled Nutella sandwiches with my friend who loved Nutella?
Adelaide: Was his name Charlie?
Matt: Nope. His name was Robbie. But, I called him Elder Harrell.
Adelaide: When I lived in Germany with Mommy, I called her woman!

Adelaide: Knock, knock!
Melinda: Who's there?
Adelaide: It's just me, you don't have to cry about it.
Adelaide's attempt to tell a knock-knock joke.

Melinda: Knock Knock!
Adelaide: Who's There?
Melinda: Boo!
Adelaide: Is it a ghost?
Melinda: No, you are supposed to say, "Boo Who?"
Adelaide: Is it a train?
Melinda: No, you say, "Boo Who?"
Adelaide: It's a train.
Melinda's attempt to tell her the same knock-knock joke.

Adelaide: That mow lawner is loud!

Adelaide: If you kiss a frog, you turn into a frog. If you kiss a bear, you turn into a bear. And, a jaguar and a fox too. And, if you kiss a panda...
Melinda: What happens if you kiss a panda?
Adelaide: You turn into a panda!
Disney, we blame you.

Adelaide: I don't want to get my picture taken!
Melinda: Why, does it hurt?
Adelaide: Yes!
Melinda: Where?
Adelaide: Under my arm pit...

Adelaide: When I grow up, I'm going to be a Princess Tiana, then a crocodile and then an allergist.

Adelaide: Did Heavenly Father give us our boogers?

Adelaide: Ooo! Popcorn! Are we going to make popcorn?
Matt: No sweetie, not this morning. Besides, I thought you wanted oatmeal for breakfast.
Adelaide: But look, there's the popcorn maker
Matt: Yeah, I know sweetie. Mommy made some popcorn last night, but we're not going to make any this morning. Maybe this afternoon.
Adelaide: Did Mommy eat it all?
Matt: Yep, she did.
Adelaide: ...Is Mommy... mean? (gives Dad a horrified look)
Matt: No, Mommy is very nice.
Adelaide: But, she ate all the popcorn!

Adelaide: Daddy has eyes like blueberries.
