Happy birthday sweet Adelaide! We have loved every moment of your first three years. This year we had another action-packed Independence Day, celebrating Freedom and Three-dom.
After a morning birthday celebration and church breakfast in which the secretary to the secretary of defense gave a moving address, we went to the 4th of July festival and antique car show in Vienna. The girls love going to street fairs, as politicians and banks are bound to throw lollipops and balloons at them.
Then it was back home to cool off at the pool until the evening. We love having a neighborhood pool to offer us some respite from the humid Virginia summer days.
And, then it was time for some fire crackers! Earlier this week, Matt and Jeff went wild on the buy 1 get 1 free deal at the fireworks stand. So we had a lot of rockets to shoot off. The girls were thrilled!
Spoiled.... but not rotten :).
Happy Birthday to you!
Eleanor was too busy filling
her mouth to sing along.
Presents! The awesome decorations in the
background were created by Adelaide and Eleanor.
Adelaide was so excited by her presents
that she forgot to eat her cupcake.
Many of the presents were put in her new
Dora the Explorer backpack from
Grandma and Grandpa Parker. She
has barely taken it off since she unwrapped it.

Slap bracelet art at the craft booth.
Matt and Eleanor thought the stroller could
use some sweet new white-walled tires like this car.
These two are about to go cruisin'.

Ahhhh, refreshing.
Flying baby!

Wahhhh!!!!
Okay, okay, so they didn't like the "screamer" rockets. But, we only had one of those. They loved the rest of the show.
Adelaide and Grandma hang out
while Dad and Grandpa set up.
Yea! Clap, clap, clap! More explosions!
Adelaide liked the big ones best.
The girls were pretty tired after a full day and went down to bed before the larger firework shows kicked off around the area. Maybe next year they'll make the big show. But, the day was a "blast" nevertheless.
We are so happy to have Adelaide as our daughter (and sister!). She's bright, imaginative, cautious, loving, protective, caring, sweet and amazing.
