Happy Birthday Eleanor!

This past Friday was an important day. George Washington turned 281 years old. And, more importantly, Eleanor rounded out her first year. One year old! Eleanor and our first president have a lot in common. In addition to sharing a birthday, neither of them have very many teeth.

Has it really only been one year since this bright, bold little baby came into our lives - demanding attention, snatching toys and covering us in slobbery kisses?

Eleanor received several packages and cards throughout the week from thoughtful relatives and friends. Adelaide was happy to teach her how to rip open the wrapping. Not that Eleanor really needed much help; pulling things apart and creating a mess are natural talents for her.

Grandma Jones sent matching dresses for both girls.

By the time her actual birthday arrived, Eleanor was a wrapping-paper ripping pro.

 Good Morning Birthday Girl!

Eleanor didn't want to pose for pictures.
There were toys to play with, boxes to stomp on, papers to rip...

We did a few presents in the morning, but had to break for work and school. Melinda used her lunch break to finish the cupcakes so that when the family got home, we were all ready for a dessert party with friends!

Monkey cupcakes for our mischievous babe.

While waiting for guests to arrive, we gave Eleanor
her last present, an entire box of tissues.

Wahoo! Time to make a mess.
This was not only a blast for Eleanor,
but we got a kick out of watching her
go to town on that box.

When the guests arrived, Eleanor was quick to crawl into the middle of the action. She pulled herself up on whoever was convenient, clapped her hands with delight and yelled at anyone that tried to take a toy from her.

It seems like the Dads always take
over the blocks at some point.

Why is this chick touching my head?
Poor Alexander... Eleanor is a hugger.

Remember those monkey cupcakes from earlier in the post? They were a big hit. Eleanor didn't need any prompting to dive right in. She had two cupcakes and was so encrusted in frosting that Matt had to rinse her off in the shower before she could rejoin the party.

Yummm!

That's the good stuff.

 Frosting Fingers!

Happy Birthday Eleanor! We are so happy to have you as part of our family. We love you little baby.
