| We can't wait until Eleanor is talking too! |
One piece
of advice that is often repeated to us is to write down the funny things our
kids say. Older and wiser parents, we've heard you. And, we've been recording
Adelaide's words of wisdom. Here are our favorite Adelaide-isms from the last
six or seven months (you may notice her vocab and sentence structure is
significantly better in some quotes than others). We hope you enjoy them as
much as we do.
Adelaide:
It's Jesus! Jesus, girl.
Melinda:
Jesus is a boy.
Adelaide:
No. Dress. Jesus girl.
Melinda:
When Jesus was alive, people wore robes that looked like dresses, even boys.
Jesus is a boy.
Adelaide:....Girl.
Adelaide:
Uh-oh. Mommy's head. No hair. Oh no.... Daddyyyyyyyyyy!
Upon seeing Melinda's new haircut
for the first time.
Melinda:
What would you like for lunch today?
Adelaide:
M&Ms!
Melinda:
Hmm... that doesn't sound very healthy. Why don't you pick something else?
Adelaide:
Choc'ate.
Melinda:
How about broccoli?
Adelaide:
Hurray! Broccoli!
Melinda:
Come get your diaper on.
Adelaide:
No. NO!
Melinda:
You can't just walk around without a diaper on.
Adelaide:
Oh...umm...I RUNNING!
And off
she ran...
Matt:
What were you grateful for today?
Adelaide:
Dilek, Pool and Closet Door.
Dilek is her day care provider.
Adelaide:
It's President Monster!
We're pretty sure she meant
President Monson.
Matt:
"Mmmm, this yogurt is yummy! Yummy, yummy in your tummy!"
Adelaide:
"No, no, mouth!"
Adelaide:
Spoon and Fork are fighting!
Enthusiastically conducts a
one-woman sword fight with her utensils.
Mom: Maybe
Spoon and Fork should be friends.
Adelaide: Shakes
head. Spoon is crazy. Fork is CRAZY!
Fork and Spoon continue their
onslaught until Fork is arrested by Mom for spearing the table.
Adelaide:
They're nakey. Get a shirt on.
Reading our picture scripture book
story about Moses.
Adelaide:
I'm sorry.
Melinda:
Why are you sorry?
Adelaide:
Poke 'a Mommy in the eye.
Melinda:
And are you going to poke Mommy in the eye again?
Adelaide:
.... .... Yes.
Mommy:
Daddy is Mommy's husband.
Adelaide:
No, he's MY Daddy.
Mommy:
Yes, he is your Daddy. But, he's also Mommy's husband.
Adelaide:
NO, no... He's a Matt, he's a boy, he's Daddy... he's, he's MINE. He's mine.
Mommy: He
will always be your Daddy. But, he's also married to Mommy.
Adelaide:
I'm married.
Mommy: Oh
yeah? Who are you married to?
Adelaide:
Ummm... Mommy. And, Daddy and Eleanor.
Mommy:
That's nice.
Adelaide:
Mmm Hmmm.
Adelaide:
I'm putting my ice cream cone in my boot.
Melinda:
Why are you doing that?
Adelaide:
To take it to church.
Eleanor: Fart!
Adelaide: That's sick, baby.
Eleanor: Smile, Smile, Giggle.
Adelaide:
Daddy, you are mommy's wife!
Adelaide:
Daddy, you go to work today?
Matt:
Yes, I have to go to work.
Adelaide:
I go with you!
Runs off and gets her Hello Kitty
lunch bag. Packs it full of plastic vegetables.
Adelaide:
I ready.
Adelaide:
Baby, you got no teeth!
Eleanor:
Hahaha (smile, smile)
Adelaide:
Here baby, get your teeth out.
Hands
Eleanor her winkle toy.
Eleanor: (chew, chew, chew, smile, smile)
Adelaide:
Go baby, go baby. Get teeth!
Adelaide:
That is MY Daddy.

a superhero on it, lightning bolt on his chest and flowing cape included!
Adelaide:
Trees sleep on the grass?
Melinda:
Trees don't sleep sweetie.
Adelaide:
Our trees are sleeping on the grass.
Adelaide:
There's a bumble bee in my yogurt. Ouch! It stung me.
The banana and honey yogurt Matt
gave her had a picture of a bee on it.
Adelaide:
Here Mommy. I share my goldfish.
Melinda:
Thank you!
Adelaide:
Here Mommy. I sharing.
Melinda:
That is very nice, thank you.
Adelaide:
...Mommy... you ate all my goldfish!
And here Melinda was only eating
them to be polite...
Matt: What type of fruit is that?
Adelaide: Jellybeans!
Oranges, the correct answer was oranges.
