Return of the Pool Party

Today was the perfect day for a pool party since it was really, really HOT!

On a related note, we are SMASHING the area record for longest number of consecutive days of 95+ degree weather.

Adelaide's birthday party was originally scheduled for last week, but we were forced to postpone after a  thoughtless storm barreled through the area and knocked out all the power. With all the power outages and summer trips, we weren't sure who would be able to come on the new date. But, we set out our pool toys and giant watermelon - ready to party!

Party Melon! Last week, Melinda cut the watermelon
into star shapes. But, this week she just went crazy
with the melon baller to save time.

Adelaide was surprised and delighted when every new family that walked through the pool gates brought one of her favorite friends to play with her. We had a great group of kids from her day care and around our neighborhood. We also practically had the pool to ourselves all morning. Perhaps people without toddlers like to sleep in (people with toddlers do too, but the toddlers do not let us). The kids had a blast splashing, playing, floating, eating watermelon, inhaling cupcakes, tossing balls, swapping toys and getting as wet as possible.

Adelaide is the one rocking the bucket hat. That's our stylish girl!

Just floatin' with Mommy in the big pool.

Eleanor is a pretty cute water baby.

By lunch time, the kids were all worn out and ready to take some solid naps. We wrapped things up before the mercury pushed into the triple digits and while it was still relatively pleasant to be out of doors. All in all, the party was a big success. Happy Birthday Adelaide! We sure do love you.

Eleanor started her nap early.
It's hard to keep up with the "big" kids.
