Happy Anniversary!

Happy anniversary to us! Wahoo! Yesterday was our 6th wedding anniversary. The internet informs us that this is the, “Sugar Anniversary.” Silly internet. Doesn’t it know that every wedding anniversary is a sugar anniversary… or at least, a chocolate anniversary? Matt knows, which is why he bought Melinda chocolate.

And flowers!

Unfortunately, not all gators are as romantic as Matt. If they were, surely Florida wouldn’t have scheduled the finals for Matt’s first MBA semester for the week of our anniversary. So, we weren’t able to hit the town this year. Matt was too busy hitting the books.

Chalkboard Countdown Gator says,
"Happy Anniversary! Now, get back to work."

We didn’t mind though. The salmon fillets Melinda made for dinner were better than anything our local restaurants could dish up. And, we took all the money we saved from not going out or hiring a babysitter and used it to buy each other the PERFECT gift – an avocado tree.

Now that’s true love!
(Simmer down hungry neighbors.
This is only a representation of our future bounty.
Our tree is still in transit.)

We know what you’re thinking, Jensens have gone crazy. You can’t grow avocados in Northern Virginia.  But, where there is a will, there is a way. In this case, that way is a cold hardy avocado tree bred by guacamole lovin’ arborists. Thank you science!

From henceforth, let the 6th anniversary be known as the, “Avocado Anniversary!”

(And, chocolate…always chocolate…)

    1. It's chopped off. This was Adelaide's reaction: "Uh-oh. Mommy's head. No hair. Oh no." Then she ran crying for Matt. :)
