It’s a Pretty Big Chalkboard

Perhaps Melinda has been spending a little too much time on Pinterest…or maybe she’s nostalgic for her school days… but for whatever the reason, a couple weeks ago, she decided that we needed a chalkboard. And, not just your run of the mill, decorative, little wall-hanging chalkboard. She wanted a brainstorming, unleash your inner Picasso, have room to be creative chalkboard. In other words, a really big one.

Husbands don’t get more wonderful than Matt. He didn’t so much as raise an eyebrow when Melinda pitched her idea of transforming an entire wall in the dining room with chalkboard paint. His only question was, “Where do we buy chalkboard paint?” (Home Depot)

Matt and Adelaide hard at work.

Moral support?

Now… we’ve already received a few questions, all of which essentially ask, “What the heck are you going to do with a giant chalkboard wall?”

Oh so many things!

Fine Art

Menu Planning and Shopping Lists

Holiday Murals and Countdowns
(Maybe Melinda should leave the artwork up to the girls...)

More plans for mega-board include trip planning, family love notes, fun quotes, end of MBA countdown, score keeping, scripture of the week, family home evening assignments, and more... The fun never stops when you can write on the wall!

Want to scribble on our wall too? Of course you do! Come on over, we'll give you your own piece of chalk!

  2. Yessss!! One of my friends when I was in middle school had this HUGE basement, and they painted the wall that runs the length of it with chalkboard paint, and we used to have so much fun drawing on the walls! I'm so doing this when I have my own house. It's useful in offices as well, not just for kids. :)

  4. You can buy dryerase paint at HomeDepot! You can also buy a metallic paint to put on as an undercoat to your chalkboard or dryerase paint. That way you can stick magnets and whatnot to the board. Unfortunately, it was too pricey for such a large wall space (we thought about it though)...

  5. I'm jealous! I've always planned to paint a wall in my house with chalkboard paint. I just need to stop renting and buy a house so I can! Fun!
