Happy Valentine’s Day!

Ahhh…Valentine’s Day…. Say what you will about manufactured Hallmark holidays; we’ll never snub our noses at a celebration that is accompanied by so much delicious chocolate.

Melinda’s been told to take it easy with the pregnancy, and Matt’s work doesn’t seem to know the meaning of “take it easy,” so our Valentine’s Day was pretty low-key this year.

However, Adelaide did get things started off right. She climbed into our bed and showered us with kisses. We strongly suspect her adorable display of affection was rooted in an ulterior motive involving the preparation of her breakfast. But, we welcomed the early-morning Valentine’s Day love anyway.

We also exchanged some small gifts. Adelaide was very excited about the little box of chocolates Mom had let her pick out at the grocery store. There is a big star on the front of the box. Well, she was excited… until she learned that she was supposed to give the box to Daddy. What?!

Adelaide has an iron grip on that box.

A happy compromise was negotiated. Dad got the chocolate, Adelaide got to keep the box with the star. Whew!

We also got a nice present from the new little baby. No – she’s not here yet. But, Melinda’s weekly test results came in looking great. Defying all expectations, Melinda’s amniotic fluid levels have rebounded back into the average range. 

The doctors are so pleased that they are comfortable letting Melinda go into labor naturally instead of planning an induction.  We’re told to expect the baby anytime between right this very minute and early next week.  Our docs strongly doubt we’ll make the 2/29 due date, though we are still holding out a faint hope for that awesome birthday.
