Memorial Day Weekend at the Lake

Melinda's parents came down to Canyon Lake for Memorial Day weekend, so we drove up to spend a   few days a the lake with Bumpa and Mum-mum.

Every year Canyon Lake has a big Memorial Day parade the Saturday before the holiday, in which all the community clubs, schools and local businesses sponsor floats, vintage cars and decked out golf cart brigades. And, everyone throws lots and lots of candy...

Eleanor started out shy, but when she learned that people would throw candy at her, she began running recklessly into the parade route yelling, "Hi!" and waving at every person, horse and vehicle that came by.

A girl and her Grandpa.

Eleanor is ready for the parade to start!

"Look Mom, it's my birthday flag."

We think they scored more candy than last Halloween.

After the parade, the community center had a Fiesta Days festival. We enjoyed the games and booths, but spent most of the time watching the local Irish and Polynesian dance troops perform. They were incredible.

The rest of the weekend was spent relaxing on the lake, putting around the farmer's market in the golf cart and feeding lots of ducks. Eleanor couldn't get enough of feeding ducks.

Eleanor's got her bread roll and
is ready to find some ducks.

We also fed ducks at the park across from the house.

Picking oranges. The girls loved chasing runaway
fruit down the hillside.

Cruising on the lake

Eleanor got frustrated whenever Dad
"helped" her steer.

Looking good Grandpa!

Grandma and Adelaide enjoying the view.

Relaxing is soooo exhausting.

Adelaide took her turn in the
captains chair too.

It was a fun weekend! We're only sad that it was so short. We're glad the lake is only about an hour away, because we're sure those ducks are missing Eleanor's handouts already.
