The Jensens Go Girlie

Up until now, almost every baby or child item we owned, with the exception of Adelaide’s clothing, has been “neutral.”  Shades of green and yellow dominate our nursery and toy shelves.

Now that we have a confirmed second girl on the way, we felt it wouldn’t be out-of-place to feminize things up a bit. After all, we'll have at least two daughters to use our girlie doo-dads.

Oh, we started small…with some pink sippy cups from the Disney Store.

Where did my dinosaur cup go?

Those went over well, so we did the next logical thing. We ramped it way up! Armed with a gallon of purple paint from Home Depot and visions of sugar and spice – we set about to create Adelaide a toddler room that knew no neutral ground.

We put in several very late nights this week to get it finished, but we’re pretty pleased with the results. Adelaide loves playing in the new room, though we haven’t transitioned her over from the nursery quite yet. Still need a few finishing touches (like a safety rail for the bed).

Here’s the 360-degree tour.

Yukon Cornelius is wondering how he wandered so far from the North Pole.
The wreaths made of hair bows are an Adelaide-favorite.

Melinda got the diaper pail, convertible crib, pink bedding and glider from Free Cycle.
The flowered curtains came with the house, and the rug was from a free online promotion.
This doesn't add to Adelaide's enjoyment of the room...but it makes her parents happy.

Yes, our really cool wall mural has a blue hedgehog and a pink squirrel.

The door is trimmed with flowered hooks.

Hmmm...ending our tour on the door wasn't very exciting. Let's bring back that wall mural.

Oooooh....Ahhh....

Adelaide hopes that you all can over and play with her in the new room soon!

  3. Must confess...the mural is a giant wall decal. But, it took like an hour to get all eighty of the stickers up :).

  4. SUPER CUTE! Will they ever (at any point) share a bedroom? R & J do, and it is wonderful. They are best friends. :) xoxo

  5. Yep - when baby number three comes, the girls will share the purple room. That, hopefully, is some ways down the road though :).
